To create an assessment of our database and make sure it's ready for migration, we can use Microsoft Data Migration Assistant. This is tool is free and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center.
After you install this tool, you can start a new project. Select Assessment, provide the Project name, and Source server type, and Target server type,. For source, select SQL Server and for target, select Azure SQL Database. An example for a new project is shown here:
