You learned about variables and property expressions in Chapter 3 and have used them in various Hands-On exercises in subsequent chapters. With DTS 2000, use of variables was considered an advanced feature that allowed you to add some dynamic behavior to your packages. However, use of variables in Integration Services is made easier and has been tied into SSIS package design so much that the packages developed without using variables are reduced to ad hoc data operations, most of which can be done using the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard.
