for power dissipation of high-performance processors are shown in Figure 1.6. Note
that (up to 2003) the ITRS roadmap predicted a continuous rise in chip power dissi-
pation while the 2005 and 2007 roadmaps capped the heat dissipation at 200 W due
to constraints in the current “system level cooling and test” technologies rather than
