27 Gauging Success
It can be hard to gauge your success. A bit like an auditioning actress, if you prepared to the best of your abilities and resources and gave it your all, that’s as good as anyone can do. Maybe you didn’t sell what you came to — and came home empty handed — but if the doors are open for you to come back and you better understand what a couple dozen legit buyers are looking for — right now — then your research trip was worth the cost of education.
All the better if they asked “What else have you got?” and/or asked you to follow up with more materials. Deals don’t always get closed during these intense events. Everyone shoots for that, of course, that’s why everyone goes — but they also serve as fodder and momentum for the time ...
