Deservedly the “Grande Dame” of film markets, Le Marché du Film (The Cannes Film Market) is nearing her sixtieth birthday. What started out in 1959 as just a few dozen professionals viewing films on fabric screens stretched across the top of the old Palais Croisette has grown into the world’s premiere film market. Held annually for ten days in May on the French Riviera (tough to beat!), the market runs concurrently with her prestigious sister event, the most famous film festival in the world: the Festival de Cannes, inaugurated in 1946.
