Comic-Con is not “technically” a festival. It is a convention (its name gives that away). But it more than deserves inclusion in this book. Not because it is such a mammoth event (which, at 167,000 in attendance in recent years, is the largest show in North America — ten to a hundred times the size of most of the other events covered herein), but because it serves as such a terrific platform to raise project awareness, build community, buzz and momentum for science fiction, graphic novels and anime film and television projects.
