Unique Gesture

When Amanda was very young, she had some respiratory problems and, as a result, she was unable to fly on commercial flights. We drove everywhere. When we would get ready to leave our motel in the morning, we had to keep her in the room to wait for a moment while we loaded the car.

The reason for this?

She was fast, really fast, and having her zooming around a parking lot full of early morning, half sleepy, Type-A drivers did not seem to be the best idea for continuing a happy childhood.

So, what you see here is a wistful kid thwarted by her mean parents who made her wait in the “motelo” (her pronunciation) while they had all the fun of packing the car.
