30.1 Introduction
In this chapter, we introduce web app development in Java with JavaServer Faces (JSF). Web-based apps create content for web browser clients. This content includes eXtensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML), JavaScript client-side scripting, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), images and binary data. XHTML is an XML (eXtensible Markup Language) vocabulary that is based on HTML (HyperText Markup Language). We discuss only the features of these technologies that are required to understand the examples in this chapter.
