So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
5 Advice from the executive front line
Taking time to make sure you have the right people in the right roles to drive success is one of the areas I focused on after my first month arriving in the UK.
I started a series of informal dinners with my direct reports and their immediate top teams – known as the Egg Timer dinners. Early in the evening, in the private dining room of a local restaurant we gathered for dinner. Each person got three minutes (we used an egg timer to make sure they stuck to this) to share their background, some info on their family, what they did outside work, etc. That immediately broke the ice and it always amazed me that their colleagues often didn’t know this information.
