Automation with serverless

We're shifting the focus here slightly from the previous sections. Another important area that has been impacted by serverless and event-first thinking is automation.

Groover, Mikell (2014), in Fundamentals of Modern Manufacturing: Materials, Processes, and Systems, described automation as follows:

"The technology by which a process or procedure is performed with minimum human assistance."

In this section, we'll be covering the impact serverless technology has had on automation and how it has enabled a more reactive and event-driven automation approach.

Next, we'll go through the evolution from scripts on a server, to externalizing our configuration, right through to automating our infrastructure's creation.
