Summary

In this chapter, we learned that we can translate our traditional and currently understood patterns into reusable event-driven applications to gain further insight into integration and automation. We also highlighted how the serverless mindset has been applied to evolving patterns to transform and move data between systems. The examples throughout this book will be heavily geared toward event-driven patterns, so it's great that we now have an understanding of the different types of event thinking.

In the next chapter, we will cover the very core of serverless compute—the function. We will learn how FaaS works in AWS and even have a go at creating a function of our own.
