It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
12.1 Introduction
This chapter presents the outlook towards 3GPP Release 11 and 12 with the work on-going in 3GPP. First the topics that were started and ongoing in 3GPP towards LTE-Advanced in Release 11 are introduced. Of the 3GPP Release 11 LTE-Advanced topics other items are covered in this chapter, with the exception of the Co-ordinated Multipoint Operation (CoMP) which is treated separately in Chapter 13. The Release 11 topics covered in this chapter are the advanced LTE UE receiver, carrier aggregation enhancements, low cost Machine Type Communications (MTC), and downlink MIMO enhancements with focus on control channel improvements. This chapter concludes with the outlook towards Release 12.
