It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
15Experiment 1: Power Through Thin Air
The low voltage in AMR1 imposes another
requirement: You need an earphone that has
a high impedance. The earphones that people
use with a music player or a phone are low
impedance, and will not work here. (The term
impedance refers to the varying resistance that a
component can present to a varying current.) A
full discussion of earphones is in the shopping list
in Appendix A. You may choose to use a passive
piezo transducer (a miniature loudspeaker) if
you have difficulty finding a high-impedance
earphone.
