Currently, the above command installs the older version 1.8 of the Arduino
IDE. I have successfully used this version with the Pico and the examples in
this book. You can follow the instructions below, with the only issue being
that the Library Manager and Boards Manager are launched using the menu
at the top of the main window.
You can also follow Steps 1–3 from the Windows Installation instructions
above and download the latest version of Arduino for Linux from there.
