CAPACITOR MARKINGS
This appendix explains how to read the markings
on resistors and capacitors.
RESISTORS
The resistors used in this book are marked
with colored bands. The colors are a code for
describing the resistor value in ohms and the
tolerance. Using colored bands to show the value
allows you to read the value from any angle, even
if the resistor is soldered onto a circuit board.
To build a circuit, you need to be able to tell
the resistors apart. The breadboard diagrams
throughout this book show the resistors with their
colored stripes, which will help you to find the
