2. Since it relays frames, does this make frame relay a layer-2 protocol?
Yes, and as you will learn later in the chapter, frame relay is really a “no nonsense” pro-
tocol. For example, it provides no support for error control. Instead, it relies on higher-
level protocols to do error correction and to request retransmissions if packets are lost or
discarded.
