It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

6. So what do the sublayers within the data link layer do?
The LLC sublayer, defined in IEEE 802.2, is the upper half of the data link layer. It
encompasses several functions, including framing, flow control, and error control. The
MAC sublayer is the lower half of the data link layer. It provides media access manage-
ment protocols for accessing a shared medium.
