So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Guidelines for Installing UTP Cable
1. Know and understand the related premises wiring standards. It is important that you
are knowledgeable of the published standards related to UTP premises wiring. Network
cable installation is governed by a standard known as EIA/TIA-568. This standard was
jointly developed by the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) and the Telecommu-
nications Industry (TIA). EIA/TIA-568 is a North American standard that specifies the
type of cable that is permitted for a given speed, the type of connectors that can be used
for a given cable, and the network topology that is permitted when installing cables. The
standard also defines the performance specifications that cables and connectors must
