Internet technology, wireless pagers, and personal digital assistants (PDAs). These wire-
less Internet devices have brought the concept of wireless communications and network-
ing to the forefront, providing users with continued and untethered access to the Web, their
e-mail, and instant messaging.
3. From my perspective, wireless communications is like magic. After reading vari-
ous chapters in this book, though, I now realize that there is probably a tremen-
dous amount of behind-the-scenes technology that creates this magic.
