NAMES.REQUEST_RETRIES

Synopsis

NAMES.REQUEST_RETRIES = retry_count

Specifies the number of attempts that a client should make to contact a given Names server before giving it up as unreachable. When Oracle Names is used as the naming method, you will often have a list of Names servers to use when resolving net service names (see NAMES.PREFERRED_SERVERS). When resolving a specific net service name, an attempt is made to contact the first Names server in that list. If contact is not made, Net8 will retry the number of times specified by NAMES.REQUEST_RETRIES. If contact still has not been made, Net8 moves on to the next Names server in the list. The default value is 1. The valid range is from 1 to 5.
