Resource Innovation
Innovation is creating something new or better than before, that is, a process, product,
service, technology, system, or any combination of these. Innovations are typically clas-
sied by type or category (Subramanian and Nilakanta 1996). In this chapter, we focus
on innovation regarding organizational resources. By following the Evolute approach
systematically, an organization’s knowledge base is expanded and can be used to inno-
vate regarding organizational resources. Nonaka and Takeuchi (1995) describe how
interplay between tacit and explicit knowledge contributes to new knowledge creation.
