the polarity of the source-side voltage can become opposite to that of the

disconnected side. Thus, a discharge across the poles occurs due to a suf-

ciently high voltage across the poles. Such a phenomenon cannot occur in

the CB operation, because its operating speed is high and the voltage across

the poles is reduced by a stray capacitance. Also, the circuit length is shorter

in the DS operation than in the CB operation.
