24 0 Power System Transients

This situation is often observed in actual installations, as the number of

minor sections is not determined by the cross-bonding. Rather, it is deter-

mined to reduce the number of joints as much as possible as an aspect of cost

consideration.

The joint labeled EJ/SSJ functions both as an earthing joint (EJ) and as a

sheath-sectionalizing joint (SSJ). The left side of the joint is solidly grounded

as in an earthing joint. The left and right sides of the joint are insulated as

in a sheath-sectionalizing joint, and the right side of the joint is unearthed.
