2.2.3.5.5 Reclosing Overvoltage

Figure 2.24 shows a statistical distribution of reclosing overvoltages. It is clear

that the reclosing generates a higher overvoltage distribution. In general, the

higher the residual charge voltage, the more severe the overvoltage distribu-

tion. The gure shows the polarity effect. This may vanish if the number of

samples is large enough.

Figure 2.25 shows the effect of a closing resistor on a statistical distribution.
