Gateway caching

Just as with wireless sensor nodes, other IoT devices that are connected directly to the cloud may experience downtime or become disconnected from the network. Without proper safeguards, commands sent from the cloud to the device would be dropped, since there is no online destination to forward them on to.

Architects can configure gateways to cache messages to IoT devices, so that even if the device is offline, it can retrieve the commands when it comes back online. You can configure gateways to cache messages for any period of time, for example for 2 days. The actual number of days that you configure gateway message caching will depend on your unique system circumstances.
