Guarding against unplanned equipment failure 

Availability calculations include planned and unplanned maintenance within your IoT systems. If an IoT device, gateway, or other component fails unexpectedly, there may or may not be a failover target that can take up the slack. This is especially important if your IoT devices are not sensors, but robotics, connected farm equipment, or other operational equipment.
