Identity registries

CSPs allow administrators to update identity information about IoT devices in inventory. This is possible as identifier information is stored within the CSP and made available for update via APIs.

Microsoft's Azure IoT, for example, includes an identity registry that stores all of the identities of the things allowed to connect to an IoT Hub. Each IoT Hub has an identity registry. The registry supports configuration of IoT device permissions and management of device life cycles, including the creation, update, retrieval, and listing of device identities.
