Cloud availability

The availability of your cloud infrastructure is critical to supporting your IoT business objectives. Outages within your cloud-hosted support systems can result in frustrated users and lost data if not planned for appropriately. You must design redundancies into the cloud infrastructure that supports your IoT systems. 

CSPs allow you to configure services hosted within multiple geographic regions as well as availability zones. AWS, for example, offers commercial hosting across four geographic regions, including Ohio, Virginia, California, and Oregon. Each region typically includes multiple availability zones—for example, the AWS North Virginia region has six (Zones A to F).
