The basic components for a multimedia PC entertainment system driven by a PC include a basic PC that runs at 1 GHz or better with an AMD Athlon, Pentium 4, or Pentium III CPU. Other CPUs would work, but remember that the system is going to be performing intensive multimedia processing functions.
The system should have 256, or better yet, 512 MB RAM. It is best to run Windows XP or Windows 2000. While other Windows operating systems will work, Windows XP and Windows 2000 are more reliable and targeted at multimedia entertainment.
