Key Technical Terms
1080i— Interlaced scanning at 1,080 lines every 1/30 of a second or 540 lines every 1/60 second. This provides a better image than 480p (see 480p, below).
2.1 speaker system— This system contains two speakers plus a subwoofer. The two speakers are right front and left front.
4.1 speaker system— This system contains four speakers plus a subwoofer. The four speakers are right front, left front, right rear, and left rear.
480p— Progressive scanning at 480 lines every 1/60 of a second.
5.1 speaker system— This system contains five speakers plus a subwoofer. The five speakers are right front, left front, right rear, left rear, and center. 5.1 means that the soundtracks are recorded with five main channels: left, center, right, ...
