Now comes the fun part—operating your SOHO wireless LAN.
The only drawback of a SOHO wireless LAN is that it operates at lower speed than a wired SOHO LAN. However, this is more than adequate for surfing the Web and other casual use and there are no wires tying you down.
The remaining Windows software configuration is the same for a wireless network as it is for a wired network. Once complete, the wireless PC either works in a simple peer-to-peer network or a client/server network.
Figure 4.20 shows the three types of icons. A green wireless communications icon in the PC's SYSTRAY indicates the signal strength is good. A yellow colored icon indicates poor signal strength.
