So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
VMM 2016 can create Hyper-V cluster and enable S2D from already-managed Hyper-V hosts, or by provisioning new hosts from bare-metal machines. During the cluster creation process, VMM verifies whether the hosts meet the prerequisites such as the required operating system versions and the domain. For each host, VMM enables the failover clustering feature. VMM runs the cluster validation tests and then, if tests are not failed, it creates a cluster. If you chose to enable S2D, VMM 2016 adds the file server, storage replica and Data Deduplication features, turns on Direct-Attached S2D on cluster, and then discovers and creates one global storage pool with cache and tiering settings, depending on drives present.
