So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Converting an existing VM to a shielded VM
In the previous recipes, you learned how to configure VMM to work with guarded fabric and create shielded VMs. So, to complete this recipe, you must already have VMM with defined HGS settings, including the shielding helper VHD that is used for shielding existing VMs in the VMM fabric. If you have a Gen2 VM with Secure Boot enabled and Windows 8/2012 at least, carry out the following steps to convert this VM to shielded:
Keep in mind that only VMs running on guarded hosts can be converted. If a VM is running on a general Hyper-V host, migrate this VM to the guarded host.
- On the VMM console, select VMs and Services and right-click on the VM that you want to convert to shielded (Exis_VM01, in my case), ...
