Masks are one of the great tools we have for building Effects.
Think of two pieces of card which are the same size—one is white—the other is
black. You place the black piece of card on top of the white card, you cannot see
the white card at all. Then you cut a circular hole in the center of black card and
place this on top of the white card. You can see straight through the hole which is
now fi lled with white.
This is the concept of masking—to cut through from one image to another using a
predefi ned shape.
