14The Law of Cumulative Impact
Before we move forward, it's important that we have a frank conversation about the most essential aspect of slow prospecting: the discipline to invest time for LinkedIn activities every sales day.
The Law of Cumulative Impact is the principle that small, consistent actions compound over time to generate massive future impact. It is the incremental progress, persistence, and discipline of daily activity on LinkedIn that makes the magic happen.
For example, the LinkedIn algorithm (the hidden program that determines whether or not your posts get seen) rewards consistent daily activity. The more consistent you are, the higher the probability that your posts get moved to the top of feeds, earning you more eyeballs and attention.
Consistent, ongoing daily activity is even more important if you are just getting started with LinkedIn. In order to get real traction, you'll need to work relentlessly day in and day out for a year or more.
Randomness Is the Enemy of Effectiveness
Consistency is crucial. Interacting randomly and infrequently on LinkedIn is like tossing a small pebble into the ocean and expecting it to generate a wave.
However, you must be careful not to allow LinkedIn activity to take over your life because it can become all‐consuming if you allow it to be. You'll need to pace yourself and balance LinkedIn work with the other impactful activities that drive immediate sales results.
