Afterword

Based on insights from an interview with Blaise Agüera y Arcas.

As we stand on the precipice of a new era, it's clear that AI is not just a passing trend but a transformative force that will reshape the landscape of every sector, including the nonprofit world. The journey through this book has equipped you with practical and tactical knowledge to harness AI's power. Now, let's take a moment to look forward to understand where AI is headed and how you, as nonprofit leaders, can prepare for and embrace these changes to advance your mission and unleash your team's potential.

A Glimpse into the Next Decade

One of the most significant shifts will be the move from non-agential to agential AI. Today, much of our interaction with AI is reactive; we provide input, and the AI responds. However, future AI systems will be more proactive, capable of initiating actions and maintaining long-term relationships. This means AI will not only assist with tasks but will also participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes, acting almost like a highly skilled team member instead of an intern whose hand you need to hold.
