The Four Stages of AI Adoption

Individual Use

This is where the magic begins, and where roughly 95% of nonprofits currently live. Before nonprofits even dip their organizational toes in the AI waters, adoption is driven by individuals who are curious and eager to experiment. These are your in-house champions, the ones who fiddle with ChatGPT to draft emails or use AI tools for brainstorming sessions. They typically don't have an official policy or guidelines to guide their efforts, but they're discovering AI's potential on their own and learning by doing.
