ANATOMY OF DESIGN
The auteur principle in graphic design occurs when content—in the form of
visuals, texts, or a combination thereof—is conceived, developed, and designed
by one individual, eliminating all (or most) of the usual collaborators.
Auteurship implies that the work is done for the benefit of the creator rather
than for an external client. It is not always a vanity production, but it is
independently produced and not tethered to a conventional problem/solution
procedure. More and more designers are finding this is a satisfying alternative
to the status quo.
