ANATOMY OF DESIGN
The game Monopoly appeals to many us because of our collective, if concealed,
desire to acquire wealth and property (and avoid taxes). It is, therefore, one of
the most frequently played board games in the world. In a subversively
lighthearted way (after all, it was invented in 1933 at the peak of the Great
Depression, when many Americans lost their livelihoods) it remains one of the
most vivid of capitalist archetypes, which explains why it is also routinely
copied and parodied. In addition to a satiric anti-Monopoly game, the title of
which speaks volumes, there are versions featuring baseball teams, the bible,
