Web Application Firewall

The WAF is part of the application gateway and it provides a firewall to protect your web apps from hacking attacks. It is based on rules from the OWASP core rule set 3.0. It can protect a maximum of 20 applications behind an application gateway and it provides monitoring for your applications using Azure Monitor (in the future, monitoring will be added to the Azure Security Center as well).

OWASP is an open standard for application security. For more information on the rule set, you can refer to the OWASP website: https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_ModSecurity_Core_Rule_Set_Project.

  • From SQL injection attacks
