I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Durable Functions
At the time of writing this book, Durable Functions is still in preview. Durable Functions is an extension of Azure Functions and Azure WebJobs, and it provides the ability to create stateful functions with state management capabilities, checkpoints, and a restarting mechanism.
It introduces a new orchestrator function that has a couple of advantages. These are as follows:
- Workflows can be created in code; JSON schemas are not needed.
- It can call other functions synchronously and asynchronously. The output can be stored in local variables.
- It saves the state of the function when VMs are waiting and rebooting.
