Assam Budget Analysis 2023–24
On March 16, 2023, Ms. Ajanta Neog, the Finance Minister of Assam, presented the Budget for the state for the financial year 2023–24.
Budget Highlights
- The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Assam projected at ₹ 5.67 lakh crore, a 15% growth over 2022–23.
- Expenditure (excluding debt repayment) estimated at ₹ 1,35,348 crore, down 11% from 2022–23. Debt repayment of ₹ 4,407 crore.
- Receipts (excluding borrowings) set at ₹ 1,14,392 crore, a 2.3% increase over the revised 2022–23 estimate. In the fiscal year 2022–23, receipts (excluding bor-rowings) exceeded the budget estimate by a substantial ₹ 12,144 crore, reflecting a remarkable increase of 12.2%.
