16.5 Data Analysis
In this section we apply the proposed model with a splogit link to a subset of
IPANE data. As discussed in the introduction, this particular data tracks the
coverag e of species Berberis thunbergiis in New England a rea with multiple
survey locations. Several cova riates o f the habitat are available. One particu-
larly interesting covariate is the maximum temperature of the warmest month.
Details on the IPANE data can be found in [7] and [5]. The ordinal response
variable coverage, which ta kes value from 1 to 6, is based on the percentage of
