Adding Multiple Audio Tracks
We've already looked at the basics for getting audio attached to your video clips in DVDSP. Feel free to refer back to Chapters 1 and 2 if you need a refresher. Including additional audio tracks to support multiple spoken languages is not much harder on the execution side—you just drag-and-drop them onto your video clip.
When adding multiple audio tracks in DVDSP, you mostly just have to make sure you obey the normal audio encoding rules for each individual track. You can have up to eight audio tracks. Of course, each new track does take up space on the disc, so you need to be more careful when creating long projects than you do when creating short projects.
Oh, and it probably goes without saying, but each audio clip should be the same length, too.
Soundtrack detour
Our previous project had a simple orchestral soundtrack. That soundtrack was built with, well, Soundtrack. Soundtrack is a fantastic application from Apple that enables you to put together your own music. It comes stocked with tons of audio loops that you can use to build an incredible array of music. You get a copy of Soundtrack with Final Cut Pro 4, but you also can purchase Soundtrack directly from Apple.
Figure 5-22 shows Soundtrack's main interface and the two loops we used to build that first soundtrack.
