I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Immediate variable expansion
Use the := operator when there is a need to force the immediate expansion of a variable. It results in the variable's contents being expanded immediately rather than when the variable is actually used, as follows:
T = "123"A := "${B} ${A} test ${T}"B = "${T} bval"T = "456"C = "cval"C := "${C}append"
At the end of this example, A will contain test 123, B will contain 456 bval, and C will be cvalappend. When A is expanded, B is not yet defined, so B is empty.
