Using an SDK

To use an SDK to build a custom application, for example, hello-world.c, we can use the following lines, targeting the ARM architecture:

$ source /opt/poky/2.4/environment-setup-armv5e-poky-linux-gnueabi$ ${CC} hello-world.c -o hello-world

In order to confirm that the generated binary was properly made for the target architecture, we can use the file utility as follows:

$ file hello-worldhello-world: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, ARM, EABI5 version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.3, for GNU/Linux 3.2.0, BuildID[sha1]=ce9b7de598f76a9611f98a4ce6b1af6018c0471b, not stripped
