When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Batch and piggyback
Because each network transmission incurs an energy tail, sending short data packets intermittently is a mobile networking anti-pattern. What we should strive to achieve instead is to send a maximal amount of data in one chunk and then let the radio return to the idle state. Ideally, we'd even like to start the transmission when the radio is already powered on.
In Android, we could use the ConnectivityManager Java class and its addDefaultNetworkActiveListener() method to be notified when the system default network has gone into a high-power state. We could access this method from Qt through QAndroidJniObject, but we have additionally to define a Java callback class calling a native C++ method. Qt doesn't seem to provide ...
