I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Linux start-up optimizations
The uncustomized embedded Linux kernel can be rather sluggish to start up, so it's better to optimize it. The usual Linux start-up optimizations are as follows:
- Kernel customization—As there are many unneeded packages in a full Linux distribution, you certainly don't need them all. Use a tool such as Yocto to customize your Linux installation.
- Kernel decompression—If you can't switch it off, at least try some alternative compression methods; it may be worth it.
- Bootloader (uboot) customization—To optimize the boot phase and remove drivers.
