Managing the Search Service

Most crawl-related search settings are managed separately at the SSP level and at the Web site level. A few exceptions to this rule are proxy server settings and crawler impact rules, which are managed at the farm level across all SSP instances. SharePoint administrators can manage these settings from the Manage Search Service page, shown in Figure 5-59. To navigate to this page, open SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration, and then select Application Management on the top navigation bar. Locate the Search group, and then click the Manage Search Service link.
