If users often experience long query execution times in the Search Centers, check your query server deployment against the following recommendations:
Use a baseline topology that allows you to scale the farm with additional query servers.
Use 64-bit multiple-core processors.
Install at least 4 GB of memory.
Isolate the content index files on separate high-speed SCSI disks in a RAID 10 configuration. Add more spindles to the disk array to increase total I/O throughput.
